Abstract

La nascita dello Stato d’Israele e le sue vicende hanno sempre rappresentato un importante oggetto di
studio sia per il governo italiano sia per le formazioni dell’intero sistema politico del nostro paese. La guerra del Kippur
dell’ottobre 1973 attirò l’interesse dei partiti politici italiani che in generale si schierarono in base alle loro ideologie:
alcuni a favore della causa araba, e altri invece a sostegno della piccola e democratica nazione mediorientale. Attraverso
i loro giornali, i partiti italiani elaborarono più complessivamente anche differenti e conflittuali immagini dello Stato
d’Israele. Pur con differenza di toni dopo la guerra del giugno 1967 e la conseguente polarizzazione del conflitto
mediorientale come scontro fra opposti blocchi, Israele è stata rappresentata nella stampa legata al Partito comunista
italiano come stato di origine “coloniale”.

The birth of the state of Israel and its events has always represented an important object of study for the
Italian government and for the formations of the entire political system of our country. The Yom Kippur war (October,
1973) attracted the interest of Italian political parties who generally took sides based on their ideologies: some in favor
of the Arab cause and others instead in support of the small and democratic Middle East nation. Through their newspapers,
the Italian parties also developed different and conflicting images of the state of Israel. Although with differences in tone
after the June 1967 war and the subsequent polarization of the Middle East conflict as a clash between opposing blocs,
Israel was represented in the press linked to the Italian Communist Party as a ‘colonial’ state.
